The film is the carrier, not the stones: rhinestones and heat-transfer pieces are arranged on the paper so they keep their layout during handling and pressing, then the design is heat-pressed onto the material and the film is lifted away. This positioning step stops the stones from shifting or dropping out of pattern, protects the fabric surface during pressing, and lets a workshop reuse one design layout across many pieces.
